Michelle Burns is senior vice president, Branded Solutions and a key member of the Starbucks Channel Development leadership team. Promoted to this role in July 2015, Michelle is responsible for leading the business development and relationship management sales teams for Starbucks Licensed Stores; Foodservice and Office Coffee segments throughout the United States. Michelle leads the development of over 250 direct sales partners (employees) as well as a multi-functional support team focused on expanding the Starbucks Experience primarily throughout the lodging, airport, grocery, college and university, business and industry, and healthcare channels.
Michelle is a 20-year Starbucks leader; previously serving as vice president Branded Solutions, where she led the organization through the integration efforts of multiple sales and brand teams. She also led the negotiations and development of key strategic business partnerships and delivered new formats, such as Starbucks Mobile Trucks, to the marketplace. Michelle’s experience with Starbucks has spanned across sales, operations, store development and multiple brands.
Prior to joining Starbucks in 1995, Michelle worked in sales and distribution in the Natural Foods Industry with Frontier Cooperative Herbs where she found her passion for coffee and was responsible for developing the natural and mass market channels for the coffee category in the U.K. and United States.
Michelle holds a B.A. from the University of Iowa. She serves on the Google Food Innovation Lab and is an active member of the Women’s Foodservice Forum.
After a great Starbucks journey living in many cities across the country, Michelle, her husband and two children all enjoy calling Seattle home. Her passions include family, travel and great food and wine. Michelle is a Starbucks Coffee Master and starts every day in a Starbucks store with a triple grande nonfat latte.
