As senior vice president of Marketing, Katie Seawell develops and drives brand narratives and marketing integrations for key strategic initiatives including Coffee, Starbucks Rewards, Teavana Tea, Frappuccino blended beverages and Food for U.S. and Latin American retail stores. She also oversees key functions within the marketing organization such as social media, digital partnerships, and owned and earned channels that focus on short-term and long-term innovation. Katie is a leader on the Global Marketing Organization and U.S. Retail Leadership teams.
Katie joined Starbucks in 2004, and has held various positions in category and marketing during her tenure. She is passionate about the work she has done around coffee including launching VIA Instant Coffee, Starbucks Blonde Roast, Flat White and Cold Brew. In addition to her love of coffee, Katie is deeply connected to Starbucks commitment to corporate social responsibility and considers her experiences on Starbucks Shared Planet and Create Jobs USA as key highlights of her Starbucks career.
Prior to joining Starbucks, Katie was in advertising where she worked with such clients as Procter & Gamble and Coca-Cola. During this time, she lived and worked in New York, Warsaw, and Paris.
Katie received her B.A. in Marketing and Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she also earned a full volleyball scholarship and was captain of her team. She received her MBA from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business.
Katie lives in Seattle with her husband and two children. She is actively involved in her children’s elementary school, which is a Title I school serving a diverse student population and is committed to giving all students the quality education they deserve. Katie is also a board member on her family foundation, The Beard Family Foundation, supporting Northwest Louisiana. Katie’s go-to coffee beverage is a Flat White.
