Angela Lis is a senior vice president, leading Partner (Human) Resources for Starbucks Global Retail organization. Angela is responsible for helping partners realize their career potential and building global partner capability to enable growth and help deliver the company’s strategic plan.
She joined Starbucks just before the company’s initial public offering in 1992, beginning as a part-time barista in Denver. Angela left the company for a brief time, and rejoined in 1995 to open the Las Vegas market as a store manager. In 1998 she moved back to Colorado and joined the partner resources team during a time of tremendous growth for the company, working her way up from recruiter to generalist. In 2005, she began a new role in Starbucks partner resources at Starbucks Support Center in Seattle, and has led partner resources in several business units.
Angela earned a certificate in strategic human resources management from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. She lives in the mountains outside Seattle with her husband Joe and two daughters, and finds herself outside as often as she can to recharge.
Coffee is an everyday ritual in her family, with a brewed dark-roast coffee and Caffè Americano among her favorites.
