Holly May is senior vice president, Global Total Rewards for Starbucks. Holly joined Starbucks in September 2018, and is responsible for consulting with the Executive Leadership Team on the strategic direction of Starbucks’ global total rewards portfolio; leading work with the Compensation and Management Development Committee of the Starbucks Board of Directors; and providing innovation in plan design, communication, training and partner care. She is responsible for the Global Compensation, Benefits, Recognition, Starbucks College Achievement, Mobility, Payroll and Tax teams.
Holly has extensive global experience across many areas in human resources. Prior to joining Starbucks, Holly led Global Compensation, Mobility and Payroll at Visa Inc. in San Francisco.
Before Visa., Holly spent several years at Voya Financial in New York where she held leadership positions across HR, serving as senior vice president and business partner to the corporate functions and leading Compensation and Mobility as well as the company’s Diversity and Inclusion function.
She was also a member of Voya Financial’s Leaders Council, which represented the top 100 roles in the company. Holly’s career also includes international experience with ING Group in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, as well as ING Americas as a leader within Global Total Rewards.
Holly is a seasoned public speaker and panelist, participating in events that include Council of Urban Professionals’ Annual Women’s Leadership Forum; BNY Mellon’s Chief Diversity Officer Forum; and the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance & Accounting (ALPFA) Annual Convention.
Holly graduated with a B.A. from Wellesley College and has a master’s degree in finance from the A.B Freeman School of Business at Tulane University. Holly is an avid reader and loves traveling as well as exploring local activities with her husband and son. Her favorite Starbucks beverage is a venti unsweetened black iced tea.
