Important Update: Starbucks Coffee Company Response to Peanut Butter Recall
As previously communicated, on Thursday, September 27, 2012, Justin’s, the supplier of “Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter .5oz Squeeze Pack” ingredient used by Starbucks in Protein Bistro Boxes sold in the U.S. and Canada, voluntarily recalled its peanut butter product due to risks of Salmonella. On October 4, 2012, and October 11, 2012, Justin’s expanded their recall to include additional lots of the product.

As a result of the voluntary recall, we instructed our U.S. and Canada company-operated and licensed stores to remove all Starbucks Protein Bistro Boxes out of an abundance of caution. We did this as a proactive measure to ensure we were protecting the best interest of our customers.

On October 8, the Protein Bistro Boxes, temporarily without peanut butter, returned to our shelves. The peanut butter squeeze pack will only be added back to the product when it again meets Starbucks high-quality standards.

The impacted ingredient is “Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter .5oz Squeeze Pack,” with "Best By" dates between 04/11/11 and 12/07/12 as well as between 07/14/2013 and 08/30/2013. This ingredient was included in Starbucks Protein Bistro Boxes with an "Enjoy By" date of before 10/6/2012 as sold in the United States and  "Best Before" date of 10/7/2012 as sold in Canada.

The recalled peanut butter product is no longer available in our stores, however, if customers have any product with the above lot information in their possession, they should discard it.
